When someone takes a trip, they bring home souvenirs. They go to the Jersey shore, they bring back seashells. They visit Canada, they pick up some maple syrup.
But what if one of the most memorable parts of someone’s trip was their hotel room?
Many innkeepers are taking advantage of this idea – and thus creating more revenue — by taking a space on their property and essentially turning it into a gift shop where guests can purchase the sheets, towels, robes, and other amenities they’ve enjoyed during their stay.
Guests enjoy having luxury linens and other comforts when they travel, giving them a break from the familiar sheets, towels, mattresses and blankets they use at home. Some of them even call InnStyle directly to purchase these products. But these customers could – and should – be purchasing through you.
Travelers are more open to shop in the area they are visiting, whether it’s at a hotel, bed and breakfast, inn or vacation rental property.
Why not give them the opportunity to purchase the pillows and the Sealy or Stearns & Foster or Tempurpedic mattress that gave them a wonderful night’s sleep for use in their own home?

This is why we’ve always suggested our innkeeping customers add a gift shop or a shelf or shelves at their property to create a new source of revenue.
If you don’t have the space to set up a shop or room to put up a shelf or shelves to display products, you can simply hang a sign at the front desk or in guest rooms telling guests that products used at your inn are available for purchase.
