Are Blankets or Comforters Better for Your Hospitality Property?

Blankets and Comforters

Did you grow up as child sleeping on the same type of bedding your whole life?  Can you recall what kind of bedding you slept with?  Did the top of the bed have a really cool color like bright red or have a particular pattern that made it stand out?  Maybe you had a comforter, a blanket, a duvet cover, or a top sheet.  If you are like most people who have never had any exposure to hospitality, you may have never thought twice about the different styles of bedding.  The great news is that there are so many options available to make the sleeping experience more pleasant.  Two important components of bedding are blankets and comforters which are both great options but have some differences.

Blankets vs. Comforters

Composition

Soft Blanket

Blankets are usually made with one layer of fabric.  This makes blankets a good option for properties that are in a warmer environment since guests won’t need to worry about trying to stay as warm during the night.  Blankets will also most likely be a better option for those who sleep hot. Blankets are commonly made with cotton, wool, or fleece.

Comforters can be composed with a natural material like feathers from a goose or duck.  They can also come as a down alternative option and be made from material like cotton, polyester, or a blend.  Both natural and down alternative comforter options can provide lots of warmth for guests, but down alternative is usually the more common option because people can be allergic to the feathers in down comforters.  The thicker insulation of comforters generally makes them the better option for guests who easily get cold while sleeping and would like extra warmth. Down alternative comforters also usually have more economical pricing for property budgets.

How to Care for Blankets and Comforters

It is always recommended to follow the manufacturer instructions on the label to properly care for blankets or comforters.  Prior to washing, always be sure to check for and pretreat any stains to make the removal process more effective during the washing cycle.  Most common types of blankets are washable by a standard machine.  Blankets should be washed with cold water.  Do not dry blankets on a hot temperature setting.  Instead, use a low temperature setting or air dry the blankets to ensure the blanket will retain its maximum quality.

Similar to blankets, it is always a good idea to check for stains or other spots on the comforter prior to washing.  Comforters should usually be washed on a gentle cycle using either cool or slightly warm water.  Comforters are a bulky linen, so it is important to make sure that there is enough room in the washing machine for it to wash effectively and not get damaged.  A duvet cover can be used to add style and make the laundering process easier.  This is because only the cover will need to be washed and not the thicker comforter.  Comforters should be dried on a low or no heat setting.

InnStyle Has a Wide Range of Blankets and Comforters

Blankets and comforters are both popular bedding options that help keep guests warm and comfortable.  It is just a matter of which type will better fit the needs of your property.  Some popular blankets include the All Cotton Soft Blanket and Loft Blanket.  Comforters that our account managers like to recommend include the Lux Lite Comforter and Down Alternative Microfiber Comforter.  Please give InnStyle a call about any blanket, comforter, or general hospitality questions you may have.  You can speak with one of their account managers who would be happy to offer their advice based on your own unique needs.  InnStyle can be reached at 267-354-6020 or 800-877-4667.  Their website is https://www.innstyle.com/.
