Separating Sheets Made Easy

Your housekeeping staff is extremely busy cleaning every room between each guest stay.  They know it’s important to make sure the guests feel like they are staying in a clean, fresh space and that is what makes the role of the housekeeping staff so valuable.  There are many ways to help speed up the cleaning process.  One of which is having labels to identify the sheet size as they are coming out of the laundry.  Sheets are often the same color, and they usually all have a similar design making them hard to separate.  Sheets having easy size identifiers can help with the process of making sure the right size sheets go to the right beds.  This will save your housekeeping staff valuable time and allow them to be more efficient.  This blog will focus on ways to identify sheet sizes quickly and easily.

Color Codes by Size

Sheets are one of the most important linens in a bedroom.  You want to make sure guests feel comfortable while sleeping, so high-quality sheets are essential. Since they are being washed between each guest stay, labels can help improve the process of adding them back on to the bed.  Some label ideas include:

Supplier Provided Color Codes

Some manufacturers write the sheet size on the labels but many do not.  Color identifiers can be extremely helpful. The purpose of these codes is to make it easier to read the sheet size quickly.  Some linen suppliers have their own color system that identifies which sheet size is which color.  This is a feature to look for when buying sheets.  Some linen manufacturers use color coding on the tag and some use a colored thread that is sewn all the way around a fitted sheet or across the bottom of the flat sheet.

Making Your Own Color Codes

Housekeeping can spend a lot of time trying to sort out sheets by the proper sizes. A relatively simple process that properties can implement to save time is to separate their sheet sizes by different colors. The following is a step-by-step process of how to make your own color codes:

*Put different colored labels on each sheet size to help staff identify which sheet is which size.

*Write the size with a fabric marker so that it doesn’t wash off in the laundry or bleed onto the sheet.

*Make sure the fabric marker writing is large enough to be able to easily read.
