2 Tips for Easily Laundering and Removing Stains from Bathrobes

Bathrobes

Bathrobes can be the ultimate luxury item when provided at the property you are staying at.  They are a nice added feature that can help you feel extra comfortable after a bath or shower and a great option on a chilly morning.  Many guests will enjoy wearing a robe while relaxing by the pool or spa.  It is important to make sure the robes are laundered properly and keep their new appearance.  This blog will explain how to launder a bathrobe and provide tips for how to remove certain kinds of stains from bathrobes.

How To Wash Bathrobes

One of the most common materials used to make bathrobes is cotton.  Cotton is a durable fabric used in many types of linens, so these types of robes could last for a long time if they are properly taken care of.  It is generally recommended that cotton robes be washed at a cool temperature around 60 degrees.  When the laundering cycle is finished, cotton bathrobes should be dried on a low heat setting to prevent the bathrobe from shrinking.  It is also advised to only launder robes with other robes.  Other linens like sheets and towels should not be combined with the robes.   Fabric softener and bleach should not be used when laundering robes because they can weaken the fibers and can cause discoloration.   Bathrobes should be laundered between every guest.  Personal robes should be washed more regularly at times when they are being used more often such as during the cold weather associated with winter.  Overall, bad odors or dust on the robes are good indications that it is time to wash your robe.

How to Remove Stains from a Bathrobe

It is important to pretreat stains before laundering a bathrobe.  Stains that are properly treated prior to laundering will help it come out looking fresh after the laundering cycle.

  1. It is always a good idea to double-check the manufacturer label to see the materials of the robe and the steps for how to wash and launder the robe to make sure no easily avoidable mistakes are being made that could damage the robe such as using bleach.

  2. Research what type of stain remover would work best for the type of stain. Common stains on robes include stains from coffee, condiments, and other types of food and beverages.  InnStyle offers a general-purpose stain remover called 1,000+ Stain Remover.
  3. Prior to placing the stain remover directly on the stain, it is important to spot test on a robe in an area that people will not notice such as on the inside corner. This way, the whole robe will not be ruined if the stain remover does not react well with the fabric on the robe.
