What Types of Mattresses Do Luxury Hotels, Inns and B&Bs Use?

Luxury Hotel Room Bed

We’re tempted to answer the question posed by the title of this article with a short, snarky response: “Comfortable ones.”

But that wouldn’t help our customers very much.

And the truth is, there are several different types of hotel mattresses. The beds you’d find at one chain might have features that you wouldn’t find at the next. The only thing that ties them together is that hotels, inns, and bed and breakfasts need to put guest comfort first while providing a durable mattress.

Some hotel chains have gotten so confident in their beds that they’ve begun to offer people the chance to purchase them for their homes.

CNN looked at this phenomenon last year and did a rundown of a few of the more popular bed offerings from different hotel chains.

Sealy Lovell CollectionFairmont Hotels and Resorts

This chain sells two beds manufactured by Sealy Posturepedic designed to provide core support along with gel memory foam, cooling technology and a soft pillowtop.

Ritz-Carlton

This high-end hotel chain sells a Stearns and Foster bed featuring silk and wood fiber fabrics, plush-top construction, reinforced edges, cooling-gel memory foam, brass air vents and individually wrapped coils.

AKA

This hotel chain sells its own Sealy Posturepedic mattress made from 10 percent higher density foam than normal mattresses for extra durability, along with gel-infused memory foam that provides cooling and support, and several layers of foam.

Hilton

The Hilton chain’s Serenity bed from Serta offers extra coils to absorb motion during the night and provide spine support, along with reinforced edges to prevent sagging and a patented quilt design aimed at improving circulation.

What makes hotel beds so comfy?

Stearns and Foster

There are many different types of hotel mattresses, but the good ones all have one thing in common: they offer guests a good night’s sleep.

And as you can see from our list, it’s not as though these hotel chains enlisted NASA to create the world’s most comfortable mattress. They worked with companies like Sealy, which makes mattresses that are available to the general public.

But still, we need to ask: What makes hotel beds so comfortable? There are a few reasons:

  1. Mattresses lose their ability to offer support as time goes on. But hotels replace their mattresses frequently, which means you’re probably sleeping on a much newer, and more supportive, bed than you get at home.
  2. There’s a good chance that the hotel’s mattress is better suited to your body and sleep preference than what you have at home.
  3. The rest of the hotel bedding – soft pillows, silky sheets, a warm comforter – all work together with the mattress to enhance the sleep experience.
  4. Finally, we tend to sleep better when we travel. Whether you’ve spent the day sightseeing, in business meetings or behind the wheel, by the time your head hits the pillow, you’re ready to crash, regardless of the mattress.

Are you looking for a way to give your guests a better night’s sleep? InnStyle can help. We carry mattresses from brands like Sealy and Stearns and Foster, along with a range of different pillows and bedding guaranteed to help give your guests the best night rest possible.

Contact our sales team today, and we’ll help you find a mattress that your guests will want to bring home.

Sorry, we don’t offer Beautyrest products so I don’t know the model, but that is a beautiful hotel and location. It is most likely a hospitality grade mattress though and may not be sold to the general public.
